Motorola to Launch World's Thinnest Mid-Budget Smartphone, Motorola Edge 50, on August 1

Smartphone maker Motorola is set to launch a new smartphone, "Motorola Edge 50," in the mid-budget segment on August 1. The company claims that the Motorola Edge 50, with MIL-810H certification, is the world's thinnest smartphone.

The smartphone will feature a 50-megapixel Sony-LYTIA 700C camera equipped with 'Moto AI,' a 6.67-inch pOLED curved display, and a 5000mAh battery with 68W charging support. The company has confirmed that the smartphone will come with 256GB of storage and three color options.


The company has shared key specifications of the smartphone on its website and social media handles ahead of the launch. However, it has not disclosed the price. According to media reports, the starting price of the smartphone could be INR 29,999.


Motorola Edge 50: Expected Specifications


Display: The Motorola Edge 50 features a 6.67-inch pOLED curved display with a 144Hz refresh rate. It has a peak brightness of 1900 nits and a resolution of 1.5k. It is MIL STD 810H certified, providing protection against pressure, dust, and fog.

Camera: For photography, the smartphone's back panel has a triple camera setup with a 50MP Sony-LYTIA 700C primary camera and 13MP + 10MP secondary cameras. It is expected to have a 32-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calling.

Battery: The Motorola Edge 50 is expected to have a 5000mAh battery with 68W charging support for power backup.

OS  and Processor: For performance, the smartphone is expected to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 octa-core processor, running on Android 14.

RAM and Storage: The smartphone may come with two RAM and storage options. It is expected to have 8GB RAM with 128GB storage and 12GB RAM with 256GB storage.

Connectivity:For connectivity, the phone is expected to support 15 5G bands, 4G, 3G, 2G, NFC, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, in-display fingerprint, and USB Type-C for charging.
